Nadja's illustrations are sometimes criticized for containing dark elements, but there's no denying that her fairy-tale like settings accompany rich and magical storytelling. Le lapin facteur tells the story of a rabbit postmaster who discovers that the forest sorceress is more lonely than bad, and he manages to resolve the problem of his missing letters while helping the sorceress make new friends. This is a sweet tale set in a beautifully rendered forest, and I wish I could frame every illustration.
